Did not have problems until updating Server Version. I uninstalled and reinstalled with version 1.16.2.1297. Remote access is available for a few seconds and then reverts to unavailable. I used the instructions for ATT port forwarding. I am using a wireless router separate from the ATT combined modem/router.
Are BOTH routers forwarded? You’re in a Double NAT situation, which is usually a pain in the butt. If your personal Router has the ability, I’d turn it into an Access Point rather than fiddle with double NAT. Then all of your administration is down to 1 Router, not 2, and it makes life simpler.
Ok so this is very interesting. I hooked up my router because the combination modem/router from ATT has terrible wireless coverage in my house. This has caused problems because I want to connect my work computer (I work from home) directly to the ATT modem for better speed, but my printer is connected to wireless through my router. I cannot print from my work computer because they are “on 2 separate networks”. I solved my PLEX problem by connecting the server directly to the ATT box. I will look into changing my wireless router to an access point!
Yeah, changing your personal router to an Access Point will make it all one network. It will allow your personal router to still handle wireless, but it will make the AT&T router/modem the Network Administrator, responsible for routing traffic and assigning IP addresses. This is the best way to handle this situation. Most routers made in the last 5-7 years have this capability, you should be able to google “Setup (Router Model Number) as an Access Point” and it will lead you down the proper path.
I have pulled my hair out trying all these replies but still have not found a fix. Plex server on windows, new version when I try to setup remote access it pops up 5 seconds and then says not available outside. when I look at ips it shows Private 10.203.121.109:32400 and public as 74.250.152.61:23412. I use AT&T DSL for internet I have a Westell Modem and a Lyncsys router with Wi-Fi and pc is connected to router. any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Ok, have you followed the instructions to place that router into “Bridge Mode” (That’s Linksys’s terminology for Access Point, and your router is definitely capable of it according to the manual)?
Need some help guys. My remote connection is dropping after about 5 seconds. I have a Allied Telesis Multiservice Gateway IMG 1400 series. About two weeks ago remote access stopped working. I called the ISP and somehow the modem dropped the static IP so it had to be re-applied. I have checked the following:
-Client version is up to date.
-Restarted server
-Restarted modem
-Confirmed with ISP that port forwarding is set to static IP matching my server.
-ISP wont allow access to the modem so anyone familiar with this model?
