I’ve tried following the troubleshooting instructions with no luck. I have an ATT router model 5268ac. I’ve attempted to locate online documentation for the router and have been unable to find any reference in that documentation or in the router settings for UPnP or NAT-PMP. I’ve also tried turning off the firewall. In looking at the application list from the router, Plex does not appear under the audio/video or server options.
I don’t have an AT&T router, but looking at the screenshot, suggest you try the “Add a new-user defined application.” The default for Plex is TCP port 32400.
Edit: Googled “AT&T 5268 Port Forwarding.” Here’s some info from AT&T’s support site. Also, they don’t mention it, but you definitely want a static IP address on your Plex server.
I tried what you’ve suggested, but it is still not working. In the setup of a new user-defined application, I left the application type blank - - should I have selected one of the options?
All of those instructions have the port forwarding completed within the firewall settings under applications, pinhole, and DMZ. As shown by my screen shot in the last message, I have followed those instructions and setup the Plex server with the 32400 port, but I am still receiving the same initial error message.
ok… let’s go over to the Remote Access settings in Plex.
There’s a checkbox Manually specify public port – make sure you have this checked and entered the same port as configured in your AT&T router.
This is an advanced setting. You might need to click Show Advanced to be able to see it.
When you have verified this, click Apply and check if you can actually access your server from outside your network (e.g. using your phone/tablet with disabled WIFI). The indicator inside the Plex settings can sometimes be a little behind or off, despite remote access working.
