Attack on Titan and Megalo Box sharing episodes

Server Version#: 1.23.2.4656
Player Version#:

I have been searching for three hours trying to find a case similar to mine with no success.

I added Attack on Titan to my Plex server today, and it found all four seasons without a hitch. Then I added Megalo Box (another anime) to my server, and it added the Megalo Box shows into Attack on Titan. So I removed both. I added Megalo Box by itself, and it worked fine. Then I added Attack on Titan and it put seasons 1 and 4 under Attack on Titan but seasons 2 and 3 under Megalo Box. I don’t know how to easily fix this problem.

Mind sharing how you named/organized those files?
From your description it sounds like something about that might be a bit off.

I’ve seen such hiccups happen in the past when users added some additional folders between the library and tv-show folders.

Edit: or some mixed up embedded metadata getting in the way of properly matching the files…

They’re named properly, but I’ll show you just so you know.

Attack on Titan s02e01 Beast Titan
Megalo Box s01e01 Buy or Die

I even added thetvdb-## to the folder so that Plex would know where to match. Still did not help.

I’m referring to the full structure from the folder linked to your tv-show library down to those episodes.

e.g.

TV Shows <- the folder linked to your tv-show library
  Attack on Titan {tvdb-267440}
    Season 02
Attack on Titan s02e01 Beast Titan.ext

  Megalo Box
    Season 01
Megalo Box s01e01 Buy or Die.ext

Where .ext is your respective file extension).

Edit: btw… according to TheTVDb it should be Megalobox (not Megalo Box)
Edit Edit: except you’re trying to match it in a German or Spanish language library

Sorry. Yes, mine are set up just like yours.

Megalo Box {thetvdb-341437}
Season 1
Megalo Box s01e01 Buy or Die.mp4

So I don’t know what the problem could be. I’ll try taking out “the” before tvdb, though.

That’s certainly a must! ({tvdb-xxx}, not {thetvdb-xxx}).
So there’s no additional folder levels above the show-level folder and below the library-level folder.

Have you double-checked the mp4 files for embedded tags that could interfere with Plex properly matching those files?

btw… what agent are you using for this library (e.g. Plex TV Series agent or one of the legacy TVDb / TMDB agents)?

It says TheTVDB under Agents>Shows. I’ve made sure to turn off Local Media Assets.

How do I check mp4 files for embedded tags? Is there any easy way?

And, no, there’s no additional folder levels above or below. In fact, Megalo Box and Attack on Titan are on two separate external hard drives, so they aren’t even together on my computer.

You need to use the new Plex TV Series agent for Plex to pick up the TVDB ID in the folder name.

If it’s messed up so bad it’s putting one show inside another one - I’d look at the filepath - all the way back to the root - and what’s added to Add Folders.

That’s pretty much irrelevant. That’s the list of (old) agents and their central configuration.
What agent is configured for that particular library of yours?
From the library navigation… click > Manage Library > Edit... and check the Agent option on the Advanced tab.

Thank you. This MIGHT be the information I was looking for. I switched to the new Agent/Scanner. I’ll see what happens.

Nope, still not helping the Attack on Titan/Megalo Box complex. I guess I just can’t add Megalo Box and Attack on Titan at the same time. Which kinda sucks.

Yeah, I’ll have to look into that, too. Thanks for the info.

Pull up Get Info (under the dots) for one of the episodes and that may reveal the flaw in the death star…:

J:\Animated Shows
is the folder off the Root containing this batch of TV Shows - and that folder is Added to the Library:

Looking at the Get Info for an episode, it’s showing files attached to one episode. It’s showing Attack on Titan and directly below that it’s showing Megalobox.

Just so you know, I’m ripping my itunes files to a format Plex can understand and I’ll be changing the name of one hard drive accordingly.

Well, I think I solved the problem. Thanks for all of your help, everyone, but it seems all I had to do was create a new Library, move everything into that, and it separated the shows like they should have been originally.

So if anyone else has this problem, try creating a new library.
