DNS server set on the ATV : PlexConnect machine (192.168.6.105)

The device and operating system (including version number) that PlexConnect is installed on: Linux 2.6.32-33-generic #72-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 29 21:07:13 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux

  • The local IP address of the device that PlexConnect is installed on: 192.168.6.105

  • The device and operating system (including version number) that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on: Osx 10.7.45 

  • The Plex media server (PMS) version number you are running (**do not put 'latest'**): 0.9.7.28-33

  • The local IP address of the device that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on: 192.168.6.10

  • The PlexConnect version number. If using Github source then a time and date of download (look at the creation date of the folder) and if you are using any testing branch e.g. the Elan/PlexInc one : today update (22.09.13) iBaa / PlexConnect git

  • The content of your 'Settings.cfg' file (if you do not have this file you are running an old version, please update)

    Issue : ... atv tells me loading trailers but nothing arrives until the traditional unable to load trailers error message on screen. PlexConnect does not seem to show any error... just stopping at serving application.js
     
    Obviously I did install required certificates on both sides and I double checked that they are present (I get the certificate warning message when browsing to the plexconnect server https port and I can see the cert installed on the ATV with the iphone utility)

This looks exactly like a certificate error. Please confirm, that the one on aTV "fits" the one in PlexConnect. And that you don't have installed multiple...

Thanks for your quick answer. I am sure this is me doing something wrong since everyone else is reporting success but I cannot get what :-(

I did follow this guide http://lifehacker.com/apple-tv-update-breaks-plexconnect-but-you-can-bring-i-1214467689

and yes the certificates are "fitting" . If I check when a browser to connect on the plexconnect https port I get a certificate issue because it reports itself as trailers.apple.com which sounds quite good to me. On the atv side, I made sure to delete all and reinstall just the corresponding certificate again but no luck ... and nothing in any log even in High mode ...

Right. Because before aTV doesn't accept OUR application.js it won't talk to us...

Anything I could do again to recheck that my install is correct ? Sounds like I should try and restore the atv from scratch and try again ...  but if I can avoid it ... Thanks!

cfg looks good - assuming that you Cert path is the correct one.

Maybe your OS is faulty... I never heard about a .45 from Apple... :-D

Is there any reason, your PlexConnect might not be able to answer the request on port 443 correctly? Could your router prevent the files getting delivered to aTV?

ahahah :-D yes right this may be my Mac ;-) 10.7.4 of course ...

For the connection, no there is absolutely no reason ... Gigabit wired LAN all the way... I will try to use a different machine for plexconnect and report back if it works better

ok ... this indeed resolved the issue ... the machine I was running PlexConnect on was a ubuntu 10.04 with python 2.6 on it and this failed ... I upgraded it to ubuntu 12.04 with python 2.7.3 without changing anything else and now everything just works great !
