ATV3 can not find PlexConnect server

Hi!

Today I replaced my ATV2 with my ATV3. PlexConnect remains. I created a new certificate and added the new profile to the brand new ATV3. But after a restart it's always showing the screen with "Computer | Settings" and not the expected Plex portal.

Details:

ATV3: 6.0.2

DNS: my PlexConnect server IP (192.168.2.202)

PlexConnect + PMS: 192.168.2.202; Windows 7 Pro

PlexConnect: 0.3.1+ (downloaded yesterday)

Python: 2.7

OpenSSL: Win32 1.0.1f light

Sorry, wasn't aware, that the gateway has to be the real gateway for Internet connectivity - now works!

Thanks all

- why did you create new certs. Once you got that one time, they are good for multiple aTVs...

- what is "the expected Plex portal."

According to the log, aTV gets in touch with PlexConnect, which in turn forwards/answers the DNS requests. Provided the aTV has access to the internet, it should come up with the std. homescreen... does that work with DNS set to "automatic"?

I couldn't find my .cert file, because it was renamed to .der, so I created a new one.

expected Plex portal = ATV homescreen. sorry for confusing.

Ok, got it, Internet access is required. If I use "Automatic DHCP settings" with standard IP of my router for gateway & DNS , it works except Plex. If I manually change the DNS to my PlexConnect system, it works only, if ATV3 was started with IP of my router and later-on manually changed DNS.

If I start the ATV3 with manually changed IP setting ( IP+GW+Plex_DNS or DHCP_IP/GW + Plex-DNS), it's not working till I change back the DNS to my router IP, wait for the homescreen and afterwards set it back to PlexConnect IP for DNS.

IP settings are correct, as you can see in the log. Network connectivity is working well. Problem remains if I connect PlexConnect + ATV3 on the same switch (router) or different ones. I can ping the ATV3 & PlexConnect from my network.

Strange...

Did you modify the "ip_dnsmaster"?

ATV is supposed to work as normal, without the need to "boot" it with DNS set to automatic.

No, ip_dnsmaster is still 8.8.8.8 and my ATV2 worked like a charm, because I haven't changed my PlexConnect setup except the new certificate files.

When rebooting your aTV3, do you keep PlexConnect running?

You have to... otherwise you will only see what you describe: Computer+Settings, nothing else.

Yes, PlexConnect is still runing. No changes to other components. If ATV3 is running and I reboot only the ATV3, it does not come up with the homescreen. Just only with this "Computer / Share | Settings" screen. If I then change the DNS to the router IP, reboot the ATV3 and change it back to the PlexConnect IP, it works as long as I don't reboot the ATV3.
