ATV3 over the net to a working PMS & PlexConnect

New to this, but I have successfully installed PMS and PlexConnect on my Synology DS415play, and can access it via my local LAN with an Apple TV3 (with the manual dns mod and using the Apple TVs Trailers icon)

What do I need to do to give my parents access to my collection across the Internet, also using an Apple TV3?

do I need to change their manual DNS settings on their Apple TV3, to my external IP address?
will I need to open up the DNS through my firewall? to allow their ATV to make requests?
and obviously I will need to open 32400.

Its been suggested I should IPad/Mac access across the web, and then Airplay view… but I’d like to have it all under the ATV control.

it has also been suggested I could get an access by adding my server to my myplex account, but I couldnt see a way of ‘logging in’ on the Apple TV3 config

You need to have a PlexConnect host also at your parents house. Just point the aTV3 at your new PlexConnect host at their home and sign into myplex and you are all set.

hmmm damn. not what I wanted to hear. Had hoped I could point it at the net facing side of my firewall and let them make the necessary requests through that. Adding another device just to give them AppleTV3 access is a pain. Guess they’ll have to stick with DS Video until then. shame.

As discussed on another thread, alternatively you can build a private VPN between the two sites (if the routers allow it).
