Plexamp treats .m4b audiobook files as one long track, ignoring all the chapter data. What’s worse is that there are no controls to move forward/backward in discrete steps (5/10/30 seconds, etc.), only next track, so if I miss something or need to go back in this huge 27 hour long track, I’m out of luck.
Please add proper audiobook support to Plexamp. Honestly discreet controls should be in the app even if it was just for music, there have been times I wanted to go back just 30 seconds or so in a song rather than restarting it.
Thank you for this. I’ve been very frustrated with the change.
While the incremental control helps, the original poster’s point remains: the chapters of .m4b files are ignored. I’ve gone to manually splitting them up into .mp3 files, but that’s cumbersome and tedious to have to do with a >100 gig audiobook library.
To pile on to the negative impacts from the change, Siri no longer is able to control playback. It is not uncommon to be in the middle of something and need a quick rewind, which the hands free controls of Siri were perfect for with just the Plex app. That functionality has been lost with this change…
Agree, it would be so awesome for it to support chapters etc. with the m4b format. Just try and open a m4b file in VLC etc. Please make this happen Plex.
