Server Version#: PlexMediaServer-1.25.2.5319-c43dc0277-x86_64_DSM6 and PlexMediaServer-1.24.5.5173-8dcc73a59-x86_64_DSM6
Player Version#: Samsung TV to Denon 2600 AVR
Since the latest two updates (See versions above) Plex drops audio for me on all content using eARC to the AVR. I have replaced cables (in case HDMI issue). This used to work perfectly. The Samsung built in apps for Amazon Video, Netflix, BBC etc do not have this problem.
My question is - Can I downgrade to say:
PlexMediaServer-1.24.3.5033-757abe6b4-x86_64_DSM6
Safely to test if its a regression in the latest drops? I know some updates have had DB updates so don’t want to corrupt anything.
I am also experiencing audio dropouts on Samsung QN90A.
I did a fresh install with 1.24.3.5033 for the test and can confirm there is no audio dropouts with it!
Will try to backup my library and downgrade to see if there would be any issues after.
Thanks - I’ve plugged a Fire TV 4K device into my Samsung TV and playing the same movie from the same exact Plex server (still on latest version of plex server: PlexMediaServer-1.25.2.5319-c43dc0277-x86_64_DSM) I don’t get the audio drop outs. So appears to be a problem with the latest versions of Plex Server combined with the Plex client on Samsung TV devices?
I tested all public releases since 1.24.3.5033 and the first one with dropouts is 1.25.0.5282.
According to this page Plex Media Server - #475 by gbooker02 , there are a few beta releases which were not released to public before 5282.
Thanks - That explains a lot then! I’d been running for a couple of years without a single problem and suddenly these audio drop outs started. I even bought a brand new HDMI cable to see if cable had somehow gone bad… I wonder how we can get visibility to Plex to fix this?
I also tested playback with Chromecast with Google TV on the latest server 1.25.2.5319 - no audio dropout.
So it’s clearly a combination with Plex App for Samsung TV and server.
I have this audio drop out issue in PMS version 1.25.2.5319 and like others am running Samsung TV’s (one TV has an amp in the mix, the other doesn’t - both are affected).
Yes its extremely frustrating. Temp working around it by using a Fire TV device for now. Samsung Plex client app doesn’t work with latest PMS versions.
Also annoyingly I upgraded my Synology to DSM 7.0.1 and now Plex on my LG is crashing (Transcoder crash). Currently trying it on the Samsung to see if I hit the decoder crash or this audio drop out issue with DSM7 version of PMS.
