I got a new Apple TV 4K this weekend (latest generation) to replace my previous Apple TV 4K (got a thread plug and needed support for it).
In all TV shows and movies in Plex, there is occasional audio drop out. The video keeps moving. Rewinding by one click causes the audio to play correctly at the point it dropped out. This did not happen on the previous device.
This only happens in Plex, not Prime or Netflix.
I tried setting sound mode from Auto do Dolby 5.1 in the Apple TV Sound settings, but it still happens.
I tried both the old and new players in Plex settings. With the old player, all of my mkv files were being transcoded, but the drops still happened. In the new player, the screen shows direct play is enabled. Both options had audio drops.
If I start an episode and don’t press any buttons, the audio dropout does not happen at the same time each play through.
Switching back to my previous Apple TV device resolves the issues.
The server is running on a Linux host. Only this apple TV shows this problem - all other devices on my network (tv and iPad) are fine.
