Server Version#: 1.18.7.2457
Player Version#: 7.28.0.15501 ba34f115 on Shield TV 2019
I’m running into more issues like this lately and I’m not sure what’s causing them.
I have a Shield TV 2019 running the Plex app. The plex server is on a Ubuntu 16.04 LTS platform. I have downloaded the Dolby Countdown demo clip in lossless format from:
I am also using the Dolby Spheres demo in lossless format from the same site.
When I play the Countdown clip the audio makes an extremely brief fuzz noise and then no sound is heard at all. When I play the spheres clip the audio plays fine for the most part with just a glitch in one part, but then the video freezes in multiple places. When I change both clips to use AC3 5.1 stream instead of TRUEHD 5.1 stream everything works fine. But when I switch back I have the same issues again.
I can play other clips using TRUEHD without any issues. Audio is set to HDMI passthrough in plex and all Dolby formats are supported by my receiver (Denon AVR-X3600H). These clips used to work just fine and now I’m having these issues seemingly with new releases of Plex. If I set the Shield TV to decode Dolby for me the problem goes away, but when I turn off Dolby processing and it passes the stream to the receiver the problem comes back, so it seems to be a problem in the passthrough.
The receiver can decode TrueHD though as it does it on other clips. Any help is appreciated.
