Audio Issues with Android 8.16 Beta on Nvidia Shield

Hi,

Im having a issue with audio on live tv, 5.1 cuts in and out when watching live broadcasts.
It works fine on recordings and if I pause the channel for a couple of seconds then resume.

If I try to change the stream to stereo it still outputs 5.1

Anyone else having this?

Can you provide logs after the affected playback session? Here’s how: Android, Android TV, Fire TV, Portal Logs | Plex Support

Plex Logs Server and AndroidTV.zip (5.1 MB)

Hi Here are the logs I think you need…

Thanks

Were they helpfull? @marekszulik

@marekszulik I have discovered that even tho Stereo is selected and it plays 5.1, While its playing if I select 5.1 and then select Stereo it then outputs Stereo and I get no buffering.

Thanks

@marekszulik FYI it reverts to 5.1 only when live tv is played again.
Can you respond if your looking into this please?

@carldickson You got to love the response times. Maybe he’s on a extended vacation :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes::rofl:. Are you on Nvidia Shield? If so which year?

Nvidia Shield pro 2017

@carldickson Okay that’s what I thought. I had a similar issue on my shield 2017. I can’t remember if I disabled audio pass-through or if I ended up just buying the shield 2019 and that fixed the issue. They’ve kind of abandoned the 2017 version in terms of stability. Now I just use it as a backup server.

@JasonsPlex hmm but it works on older versions of plex and works fine on movies etc

@carldickson The live tv player and the movie player are two separate ones. They don’t modify the player the same for both from my understanding. Yes sometimes the older versions work better than the newer ones. It just takes one thing for them to Tinker with for them to mess up something else. I do hope they can fix it, but that was just my experience in the past with it.

I got hold of a new Nvidia Shield 2019 and the issue is still there, not as bad but still glitches on live TV
