Audio Keep Alive Setting from Plex Home Theatre

Hello all

This is a Blast from the Past.

I started with Plex Home Theatre and it had a Setting called ‘Audio Keep Alive’ which stopped the First Few Seconds of a Song being cut off when an AV Receiver was used.

Now, in Plex HTPC, when Playing Music through an AV Receiver, the First Few Seconds of the Songs are Lost.

Is there any possibility of the ‘Audio Keep Alive’ Feature being added to Plex HTPC?

Thanks in advance

Kevin

Maybe you could experiment with the options
--audio-stream-silence=<yes|no>
and maybe
--audio-wait-open=<secs>
in the mpv.conf

See HTPC Tips and Tricks for general info on where to find the mpv.conf file.

Hello

Thanks for the Reply.

I have Set the following, I have never done this before so hopefully I have used the Correct Syntax:

–audio-stream-silence=yes

–audio-wait-open=2

I will see how it goes.

Thanks

Kevin

Some of the information here may be useful: Plex HTPC for Windows should add "comfort sound" to prevent sound delay on pause

Hello @OttoKerner

I added the following Settings to the MPV.conf as you suggested:

–audio-stream-silence=yes
–audio-wait-open=3

However, the behaviour is unchanged.

I even tried setting the audio-wait-open to 10 but the Music still starts Playing immediately, it is as though the Settings are not being applied.

I have added the Settings to the MPV.conf located in:

%localappdata%\Plex HTPC

I am running Windows 11.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Kevin

Hello all

Just a Quick Reply to explain the Solution that worked, for me.

I found a Small Utility called SoundKeeper that you place in the Startup Folder on Windows, I am using Windows 11, which stops the Sound Card from Sleeping when Plex changes Music Tracks.

It works perfectly, no more losing the first few Seconds of the Song.

I do not understand why the Settings added to the MPV.conf did not work as I believe that they are supposed to achieve the same thing.

Hopefully, this Solution may Help someone else.

Thanks

Kevin
