It looks like I have a slight audio sync delay on my setup. I have to set the audio offset to plus 50ms to make voices look and sound correct. The problem is that this settings in the GUI drops out as soon as I stop or exit the Plex HTPC. Is there a way to permanently set the audio offset to 50ms? I have tried to set audio-delay=50 in mpv.conf but it has no effect.
Are you using the HDMI port for audio interface?
If the HDMI device into which your computer is plugged is removed, the audio interface becomes a different “identity”. Plex HTPC will then use all default values for that new interface.
There are some HDMI devices which identify themselves with a different device ID each time, causing Plex to assume that it is each time a different output device.
I use Plex HTPC. I don’t see any “save” option? I use HDMI via Nvidia 4060 and have entered the following in mpv.conf
audio-device=wasapi/AV Receiver (NVIDIA High Definition Audio)
audio-channels=auto
audio-exclusive=yes
audio-spdif=ac3,dts,eac3,dts-hd,truehd
This means that even if I install a new video card driver, Plex HTPC decodes the sound correctly. It is only sync that is the problem now.
Yes, I have switched to audio while playing a movie. That setting will not be permanent. Didn’t think it was possible to set the audio delay under the main settings. But don’t think it works, I put e.g. 50ms in the main settings then it says zero in audio delays in the playback settings? I can see lip sync not working.
Is this a delay that is necessary for every video?
Then you should set this in the general Settings area of the player, and not in the playback controls of the currently running video.
