Odd. I don’t know which one fixed it here. My wife was watching a recording and started skipping commercials without any kind of lag and when she paused it the audio quit instantly, so I have no clue how long it had been fixed at that point, not what caused it
Well…mine is back to lagging real bad again. Was nice while it lasted. Has anyone from Plex EVER addressed this on any thread?
This is infuriating. I made the switch to a stereo pair of HomePod minis and this problem is so distracting. In fact I thought it was the homepods at first, until I tried other apps with zero problems.
Can we at least have some input or even recognition from a plex spokesperson or dev? I have been a plex pass user for a long time.
I do not have this issue if I fall back to the old player (settings > advanced > use old video player)
Yes, the issue doesn’t occur with old player but this is definitely not optimal since new player brings many new features.
It’s really frustrating that nobody in Plex seems to care this issue, while it will get more and more common with people buying more HomePods (or minis).

Same problem here
The workaround mentioned above (switching to the old player in the settings) does the trick. Of course we would all like to see the but corrected in the new player.
I posted about this back in December, at the time, searching the forums resulted in nothing (My search-fu apparently sucks really really badly).
It appears (from what I can tell), because of “Frame Rate Matching” being turned on on the ATV.
But quite frankly, you want it turned on, at least here in Australia, the general consensus is to set the ATV to 4K SDR 50Hz (or 60Hz), turn frame rate matching on, and then when you play something in 4K HDR it’ll automatically switch.
If I switch Plex to using the old player, I get to keep frame rate matching and dynamic matching turned on, and the audio delay issue when pausing / resuming is gone.
I have 2 Homepod Minis in stereo pair.
Plex was also the only app on the ATV with this audio issue, I’ve had no such audio issues with YouTube, Disney+, Stan (Aussie streaming service), Paramount+, Apple TV+, etc…
Same problem here.
I have two standard HomePods (no minis) connected as stereo pair to Apple TV 4K.
Latest tvOS, HomePod OS and Plex App is installed but still having this issue.
The only workaround I noticed is switching to the old player in the settings.
To all plex developers:
Please fix this issue! It‘s really annoying.
Another HomePod user checking in. Please fix this issue, it’s so annoying and a bit disrespectful to Pass holders.
Yup same issue as all the above. Been waiting ages for it to be fixed… still nothing… come on Plex, I paid a lot of money for a lifetime subscription… I expect better than this!
Same here, I have to use the native player to avoid this, but now HEVC playback using native player is broken and full transcoding is required.
Yeah, native video player can’t play many formats - specially 4K - without transcoding. It’s really messy. Please fix this, guys.
