Audio settings / Plex on Shield TV

Server Version#: 1.18.2.2029
Player Version#: 7.24.3.13840

I am running PMS on a dedicated Linux server back-end and a few players. One of the player is a Shield TV that is connected into a Denon receiver that supports Atmos plus pretty much every other audio codec.

I have been trying to access the audio settings and the only option I have is passthrough under the advanced settings. This is configured for HDMI. The article I found making reference to audio settings I don’t have is at Plex Media Player Settings

On the same player, if I open Kodi and play the same media file the Denon receiver shows it is recieving the relevant audio codec (e.g. TrueHD, DTS-DH, etc.) but when playing through Plex I just get a generic ‘multi channel’ message.

I have found a couple of articles on the forum site that make reference to audio settings (such as speaker configuration, etc.) that just don’t exist on my instance of Shield. Am I missing something really obvious here?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Chris

I had a similar issue. Shield TV pro to Yamaha 3070 to Atmos 7.2.4 setup. I just don’t get direct play with Plex. I don’t think it’s really intended for that (it’s mostly making your library playable on ALL sources. For that reason I use Kodi on my Shields and fire sticks for local (on network) playback. It TRUELY supports all the lossless formats and will give you the best audio reproduction you’re looking for. I’ve tried FOREVER to get Plex to just play the files as they come but it just doesn’t happen.
