I am trying to playback movies with dolby atmos on my new nvidia shield 2019.
But plex does only show ac-3 with direct play, but vlc does passthrough the atmos stream.
are there any options i did not enable in plex?
You need to connect the shield to your receiver via HDMI and the receiver needs to support ATMOS and is configured with the ATMOS speakers. Also check your audio preferences in the shield.
hey i did all what you said, that’s why my receiver shows me that it gets an atmos signal while playing back the mkv with the vlc app for the shiled.
do i have to config my plex server or my plex media player settings?
In Plex client make sure you have HDMI Passthrough under advanced settings. Also look on the server and see if it is transcoding the audio.
