Auto Refreshrate

Xbox One now support different refresh rates. When I watch tv, my Xbox automatically switches to 50hz. And back when opening other apps. In settings I can select to allow 60hz, 24hz and 50hz.
The only place I miss the automatically switching is in Plex. So 50 and 25 fps content play jerky. Is there any way to fix this? It would be great if there is an option for this, like de desktop player

If this hasn´t changed recently (and I don´t think so), then 3rd party apps cannot change any video settings including the refresh rate.

So you are basically stuck with 60 Hz and there is nothing PLEX can do about that until Microsoft allows it.

Microsoft does allow it. Tv app can change refreshrate. Player client on windows also. Sinds march update xbox one can switch between 24hz, 50hz and 60 hz. I would also be happy if i could choose for audio resample. 25/50p video would slightly speedup but it would be smooth.

Currently, Microsoft does not allow it for 3rd Party apps.

While you can manually go in and switch the refresh rate/audio channels the app itself cannot change those options. Whatever you have set in the console options is all Plex is allowed to use it can’t switch them itself.

Ok. But i do not manually change the refreshrate. When I choose tv app it automatically switches to 50 hz.
But thanks for your help.

Yes, “system apps” from Microsoft are allowed to do it.

But no 3rd party apps

The question then becomes is it something that is allowed in a UWA? If so we’ll just have to wait for the Xbox One to get UWA support and the Plex app to be updated to a UWA.

Also unlocked frame rate typically means unlocking the frames per second not the refresh rate so this announcement may not even help with the app being able to adjust the refresh rate.
