Auto Switch Last Tuner Available From Live Show You Are Watching To Scheduled DVR Recording

On most Cable Company provided DVR boxes, if you are using your last available tv tuner watching a show, and you have a scheduled DVR recording coming on while you are watching a show, it will pop up warning you and asking if you want to proceed to switch tuner to the channel for the scheduled recording or continue to watch live and cancel recording. We need this feature here on the Plex to truly make the Live TV part work well with the DVR part. This way you get a warning, can allow the recording to proceed without missing it or just cancel the recording and stay on the live channel you are watching on the last available tuner you are on. You are informed and not surprised later finding you missed out on a dvr recording because you were using the last tuner available. Please add this feature.

The live TV features are hugely lacking in plex (I understand that this is new). Currently i am still using SageTV to record most of my live TV but plex is getting there.

Here are a couple more features with Live TV I think need to be added:

  1. College Football: If I have all college football events marked to be recorded (making it a favorite) and only have 2 tuners there will be conflicts on Saturday. When I remove one of the conflicts or recordings to manage the problem it deletes all of my college football recordings for the day and next week instead of deleting the one that I don’t care about. To get around this I have to manually go in and record which College football event I want to watch instead of using the favorite feature to my advantage.
  2. The TV guide should have access to all users not just the primary account.
  3. The TV guide should be used in PMP or other apps as a source to watch Live TV.
  4. Buffering: Not sure why it takes Live TV about 3 seconds of buffering to advance 10 seconds forward. It makes the user experience pretty bad.
  5. When a Live TV event is closed between start of the event and end of event. Plex does not save the location of where you left off. So when you go back to it you got to start from the beginning and fast forward with a a ton of buffering to get back to where you want to be.
  6. Keyboard hot keys… I have noticed that there are a lack of hotkeys for things like “record,” “Guide,” favorites or even navigating through the guide with a keyboard. Hope this can get fixed and implemented in PMP so that I can use a remote rather than a mouse to navigate.

There will probably be more added to this list. But for now that is all I can think of.
