Working on a new library with a mix of tv shows and movies.
I use scanner and agent plex movie.
But when I do multiple scans , it never comes up with the regular movie info.
I tried different things and think I am missing something. Only way I can get the info right is to do a individual match.
The file titles are not difficult and always the first match aka “Free Guy”
Well right now it isnt even matching simple titles.
At least on the movie ones .
Only thing I can see that matches them is click /match/ first selection individually
Yes I looked at that before posting here.
May have to just keep adding one at a time
Not sure why Plex would have issues not automatching a title like
Ready Player One.mp4
Please follow the link above. The absence of at least the release year in your file name indicates that you did not read it.
By the time I add the Year to every file I can add every one faster by clicking on the individual Match… on plex
Some of my previous files matched fine.
Having to fine tune every file I have to get any match would take a long time.
And since it was the first match on the list , figured it would auto load that information.
Thanks for the help , will just add one at a time. Thought there would be an easier way
MP4 files sometimes have incorrect embedded metadata which can effect Plex’s ability to correctly match the movie/show (movie title, episode name, etc).
If desired, Plex can be configured to ignore embedded metadata in MP4s. Edit the library, choose Advanced, deselect “Prefer local metadata,” and save changes. Rescan the library and update the metadata.
Tiny Media Manager: https://www.tinymediamanager.org/

Automated tools can help with renaming.
TMM is free. I’ve used it to rename some of my media files. This pattern works well for movie folder and file names: ${title} (${year}). You can easily add IMDB IDs, video/audio codecs, and other information if desired.
I bet its a LOT less than manually matching. my standard canned response for poor naming is:
If you want to save yourself a lot of time I would recommend using Download - tinyMediaManager and use ${title} (${year}) {imdb-${imdb}} as the new name format.
${showTitle} - S${seasonNr2}E${episodeNr2} - ${title} for episode names
${showTitle} (${showYear}) {tvdb-${tvShow.ids.tvdb}} for show folders.
I can cleanup several hundred filenames in less than 30 minutes. by including both the year and imdb id in the file name you make manual matching a thing of the past.
