I have my library shared with a number of friends and family, and not all of them are able to direct-play HEVC encoded media, in fact the vast majority can’t yet. Right now I have two movie libraries set up, one for HEVC media, and one for everything else that’s easier on my server to transcode. The HEVC library I have set up to automatically create an optimized-for-TV version (x264, 3 mbps) of anything I put there. I would love to just have a single library, if I could set up Optimized Versions to run on and convert ONLY HEVC encoded media within a library.
