Hi all! Had this problem as of the last few months, and updating the server and playback apps both haven’t resolved it.
Episodes of TV shows aren’t autoplaying. The loading screen for the next episode in the list appears briefly, then it goes back to the basic info screen for the show as a whole, rather than for the next episode. Oddly, yesterday it worked fine, then suddenly issues again. The playback queue has all relevant episodes I want to watch in it, but it just stops after each episode.
The player version is the most up to date the downloads page gave me.
As for browser, I’m using Chrome and have a bunch of plugins enabled, which I’ll test now. It’s odd that it would work yesterday no issues though with the same plugins.
Okay, issue with that is casting to my Chromecast only works with Chrome. Plugin disabling however works with Chrome. I’ll try with my PS4 to see if the same issue occurs.
You cannot download the web player separately. You either use the one that comes bundled with the server (which is quite old, considering your server version) or the publicly hosted one.
The latter is available in the link I gave above. Have you tested it?
The server update is one it prompted me for recently. I had no idea it was any older. The link you gave me just took me to my server interface for my current one rather than any downloads.
Which player or server should I be using? Which is the most up to date?
No, it loads the most current web app version.
Compare the version number it gives you under Settings - Plex Web - General
versus the one you see when you load the web app using the shortcut “Open Plex” in the right-click menu of the Plex Server task tray icon.
Chromecast is a whole different app and should be explicitly mentioned when used.
Okay, Settings > Plex Web > General gives me version 4.39.1
Right clicking the task tray icon and choosing Open Plex just gives me a new tab that has the Plex logo but doesn’t actually load anything after that. However the address bar seems to indicate that it’s version 4.34.3
Okay, at this point probably the easiest option is to just uninstall Plex and reinstall it all, make sure nothing conflicting with installs is causing issues. Which is the version I should use for watching on PC as well as being able to stream to my phone or Chromecast?
