Backing out of preplay screen takes you back to the sidebar

Is it just me or did Plex changed preplay screen behavior? Whenever you press back button to back out of a preplay screen for a movie or a tv episode, the focus goes all the way back to the sidebar. It really doesn’t make much sense to go back to the sidebar. So I’m guessing this is a bug, not intended UX design.

Hi, can you tell me what device you are using and whether you are using the remote that comes with the device or if you are using a 3rd party remote? I’ve tried it using the Nvidia Shield Tube and it’s remote and am not seeing the issue, unfortunately.

Interesting. I am actually using Harmony Elite. Been working fine and haven’t touched the setting and it started doing that recently. Using back button mapping on Shield to go back and it’s been doing that.

Hi, I checked with a some colleagues who have a Harmony remote, though not the Elite version, and they are not seeing the same behaviour. Would you mind checking 3 things for me:

  1. Does the sidebar immediately open or is there enough time where a 2nd “back” button could’ve been pressed? I’m trying to gauge to see if it feels like one smooth motion in the app or if there’s a slight pause.
  2. Can you check the mapping with the harmony remote and make sure that the “back” button isn’t somehow mapped to sending “back” twice (just in case)?
  3. Would you mind reproducing the issue and then grabbing the logs (https://support.plex.tv/articles/201573117-android-android-tv-fire-tv-logs/) for me?

  1. I don’t think there is delay for that. What happens with back button press is that Plex will simply fade to home screen with the selection focus on the sidebar.

  2. Made sure there wasn’t anything funny going on with Harmony setup and there isn’t anything that I found to be out of order.

Thanks for getting the logs. I’ve created an issue and it is now awaiting triage by the team. Sorry that I can’t be of more help.

Is there any update about this issue? I tried uninstall Plex app, same thing. I tried with Shield 2019 remote, same thing. Can’t figure out what else that might cause this.
