Backup current plex config to restore to different nas

Server Version#: PlexMediaServer-1.25.5.5492-12f6b8c83-x86_64
Player Version#: N/A

I am building a new media server (new QNAP), how do I backup my current config on QNAP 1 and restore to QNAP 2, then decomm QNAP 1 when done. All data his been transferred, QTS up to date.

You go into the PlexData → Plex Media Server folder.
Highlight everything and zip it all up.

When you restore on the new machine, reverse the process AFTER installing Plex and creating the PlexData share there.

Hopefully you don’t have Photos and want them to be in a timeline or have the correct date afterwards. None of there backup methods work :frowning:

@joe.king.cool

I’m sorry, you have not been able to ZIP and UNZIP the backup?

@ chuckpa

what do you mean did you read everything i attempted to get photos to work with your backup method.

Where are you referring?

This is all I see from you here.

I didn’t see anything about what you attempted

I will respond in your thread.

thank you , i was just clarifying to this person photo timeline and personal media are useless in plex if you ever backup and restore. on going issue for years.

on the Brightside the metadata and organization of music and movies are polished and solid as long as folks follow your guidelines on labeling and organizing them. And you finally got music playlists to sync properly with smartphones and able to change the order of the playlist from smartphone. which no-one seems to be able to do like google and apple to name few. so kudos on that.
