Trivially retryable errors are not automatically reattempted, triggering spurious explicit error messages for common activities, like selecting play/resume on a video. There’s no reason to display such errors. Just retry the high level operation up to 3x, automatically, on behalf of the user.
Conversely, attempting to force subtitle burn in, or other transcoding operations, silently falls back on direct play. For example, with 4K content.
