Bad Plex EPG Guide Data -

Well I am now moving backwards from last nights recording - L5K2S8 here in Canada. OTA.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow - off by an episode number
Kim’s Convenience was supposed tb episode 5, showing as ‘6’

it’s becoming a game of whack a mole.
The problem is once the data is messed up it then starts missing the next set of stuf.f.

This is still happening as of today.

Now it’s infected my Crime/News type recordings from syndication. I just spent 45 minutes going through a weeks worth of recordings in “TV Shows\Dateline\Season 2020”.

At least the EPG got the episode title correct so most were easy using Google. However, Dateline is generic tag that covers Dateline NBC and the many different branches like Dateline Mystery or Dateline Uncovered Secrets. I had 5 of those in a list of 14 to track down.

And the Plex EPG needs a better matching routine. Once I set a match to Dateline NBC from just Dateline or Dateline SBS, there should be a way to force that every single time. I’m in the US so it will not be Australia’s version. Then you have the latest season as Dateline NBC which now is dumping into 2020 as well. URGH

I’ve also noticed that the EPG is tagging Alice as some Alice in Wonderland series. NO NO NO… I can’t tell you how many times I’ve fallen for that and go to watch only to hear Flo say “Kiss My Grits”.

Wrong Alice - wrong alice

Well not sure what the heck is up - but now it seeems alot of data for CIII/Global here in Canada - L5K2S8 is my location OTA settings., are not getting proper version number - showing a date - but that menas now Plex is recording everythign TWICE - and using up all my tuners even though I have more than enough. 3 * 2 HDHomeRun should be plenty, but now if you record Swat on CIII and Swat on CBS - really hope this can be resolved soon - or I’ll have to figure out a way to muck with this somehow. really unsure how. Changing priority won’t really help since

But the double recordings only starts on March 4th - before that it seems fine, Even General hospital is doubled up. Seal Time, S.W.A.T… Oh no correct General Hospital is doubled up from Mon Mar 2nd - 5th.

I just started noticing this with my DVR. It looks like it has been going on for a while for 48430 zip code. I notice for sure 66.1 is doing this with certain shows and it looks like other channels are also the more I investigate.

The problem arises if the same series is on more than one channel and the episodes are not identified on some of the channels. Some channels just have series information and no episode details and this would lead to multiple recordings. It is an area that we will be looking into

What you could do is restrict recordings to a specific channel when setting them up.

In the example above for S.W.A.T., I suspect that channel 4.1 had episode info but channel 41.1 did not.

In the case of there being SD and HD channels, one also disable SD channels leaving only one available for recordings.
