Im having some video quality issues with my apple tv plex player. My apple tv and media center (mac mini) is hard-wired to a 800gig internet speed. The tv in my room uses a wireless connection with a fire stick and plex runs perfectly. This obviously has me expecting the issue is with an apple tv setting, im not sure what it could be. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you set the Apple TV Plex app to use a specific (non-original / max) quality for its home network streaming? Settings > Video Quality > Home Streaming
That implies the two devices are on different subnets and cannot see themselves directly. This can happen if they’re connected to different active network components (e.g. access points / routers) which create their own subnets. Some routers create different subnets for wired vs. wireless connections or regular vs. guest network.
With that, Plex will consider the connection to be remote… if there’s some trouble with the remote access configuration, this will result in an indirect / relayed connection. Relayed connections are only offering a limited bandwidth.
That’ll very much depend on your actual home network setup.
If you have different active components like access points inside your home network, they should be setup in bridge mode… name will probably vary depending on the manufacturer, basically it means the device should extend the home network instead of creating its own subnet (e.g. by getting local IP addresses from your router instead of assigning their own local IP band).
Though i understand what you’re saying I’m not sure that’s the issue. The apple tv is hard wired and the plex media server(mac mini) is hard-wired straight from the same splitter. I also own a TP-Link wireless extender which i just changed to “bridge mode” but again the apple tv is connected directly.
I fixed the problem. Not sure why but i made sure my mac mini (media center) which is hard wired, was on a specific wireless network. Once i changed that from the router to the tp-link wireless router instead of the standard router it worked. Thank you for the help!
