Server Version#: Version 4.108.0
Player Version#: whatever is latest on each device
Core i9 10940X, 4x4GB DDR4 3200, m.2 install drive, GTX750ti (I know, I need to upgrade it. Hopefully soon), Windows 11 Pro.
I wrote about this before, here and using MKVToolNixGui solved my issue at that time, with the video files that gave me trouble.
However, I ran into the problem again last night in trying to play a video. I ran the file through MKVToolNixGui and tried the new file, but I still had the same problem. Instead of streaming at a steady pace, it would spike repeatedly.
I’m not sure if my hardware has changed since then since I shuffled around a lot of PC hardware over the past several months. I think it was an older CPU at the time, but also a GTX1060. I want to upgrade my son’s GPU as soon as I can afford it, and then take his RTX3050 for my media server.
edit: I thought it might be that it was set to “use hardware” and the GTX 750 ti wasn’t strong enough, so I turned that off, thinking that a 14 core, 28 thread CPU should be good, but it didn’t make a difference. I checked the device manager in both situations, and there is very little use on anything when I try to play that video.
