Yes ,it’s an issue, I had to uninstall

Yes, I also noticed the battery drain, I have uninstalled. Not sure how to get notified for the fix.

Guys, what type of phones do you have? Strange that no one from Plex is responding to it

This is odd I am using my Android Plex app daily (2 hours + a day commute) and it isn’t even showing up on my top 10 list of apps draining the battery “Phone Idle” even beats it.

I’m on a Mi Mix 3 Android Pie (9) Plex Android Beta 7.29.0.15846.

I noticed the same issue. I get notifications from the Android OS saying that Plex is draining my battery.
Even if I stop the app, it’ll start again in the background.
My device is a OnePlus 6 running Android 10 (OxygenOS 10.3.2).
Plex version 7.29.0.15876.

I’m having exactly the same issue as Fabio. Not used Plex at all in weeks on my phone and the past week or so it’s draining up to 30% of my daily battery.

Phone is a OnePlus 6 running OP6 O2 Beta 34

strange we dont get feedback at all

I’ve got the same issue. Today less bad than yesterday but still 14% drain without opening the app. Yesterday was over 30%.

My device is a OnePlus 6 running Android 10 OP6 Beta 34. Plex App version 7.29.1.16015

Uninstalled the app, battery usage went back to normal.

Definately something going on with Plex and it seems the OnePlus OS.

And yes it would be nice to know that the Plex team are at least aware of this.

Can anyone share logs?

  1. Leave the app in the background, wait for battery drain to happen.
  2. Open the app, follow the instructions in https://support.plex.tv/articles/201573117-android-android-tv-fire-tv-logs/, email yourself the logs and then post them here (or DM them to me if you prefer).

This will hopefully help us determine what it is that the app is doing that drains the battery while in the background.

Thnx for feedback, I installed the app again, since I uninstalled it… Gonna wait a few hours now , until see the drain again

My phone is Samsung S10, couple days a go, I log-off from Plex and the battery drain has stopped.

i have installed the app again this morning, and now i dont notice the drain anymore
maybe someone can make logs who didnt uninstall the app yet ?

I’ve also reinstalled Plex and 12 hours later it’s not had a battery drain issue…

Same here, after reinstall no drain anymore…
Can anyone else upload the logs?

I see also a newer version our on play store, but not installed yet… Trying to replicate issue first…

Out of curiosity, why are you trying to recreate a battery drain issue, if you feel it’s been fixed? Just wondering.

cause there is/was an issue with the app, and it must be investigated anyway
there was clearly an issue with it
