Battlemage Support

I’m following it in my RSS reader so I don’t accidentally miss an update. Because I’m empty inside and it’s so worth it.

How do I get an RSS link for this? I’d love to add this to my smart mirror (MagicMirror^2 which natively supports RSS)

Just FYI I’m running the latest version of truenas and plexpass image and my battlemage GPU is now selectable in the transcoder settings.

@joedirty30 So this might seem like a dumb question but just want to clarify, so you’re running plex on a linux image that allows you to use a battlemage gpu for transcoding? And it works or is it just seleciton?

I have this too, but it doesn’t utilize the GPU when selected.

Mine was always selectable but when you go to stream something, look at your CPU utilization.

It’s most likely using your CPU to transcode like mine.

Good to know, ty for infoming the rest of us :slightly_smiling_face:

I think it was as simple as pasting the URL for this topic into feedbin, which then found it.

My apologies, I just did a quick test and it was doing it was a software transcode.

Yeah, Truenas goldeye can load the firmware, including the GuC and the HuC, so the card shows up in plex now, but the console will spit out an error when it tries to transcode with VAAPI because the version of ffmpeg they are using is not compiled to support the bleeding edge of intel media driver for linux. After the error happens, plex falls back to software encoding. At present, it appears the ball is in Plex’s court for updating ffmpeg and getting it compile with the latest and greatest intel-media-driver so they can support Battlemage’s generation of cards.

If you really want battlemage support right now, you can always run plex server on windows. Till then, we need to wait for plex’s team. Luckily, they are actively working on it.

Hey @chris_decker08 since I just saw you pushed out a new beta (1.43.0.10346), does that mean we’re next on your list? :face_holding_back_tears:

And by soon, I meant tonight :stuck_out_tongue: the following build updates the drivers, however we do not have a battlemage gpu to test with. Would you guys give it a try? Again, this has not been tested and is very much use at your own risk!
