Server Version#: QNAP TS-453A
Player Version#: Plex Version 4.100.1
Tuner Make/Model: Vbox 3442-21
Guide/Lineup name:
Using XMLTV?: Don’t think so?
Channel number/Name: BBC1 Scotland. BBC1 Scotland HD
The above channel (HD and SD versions) does not play in Plex installed on, Firestick,Android Box, Nvidia Shield, Windows 11 laptop and never has.
Channel plays perfectly using Kodi, VLC, Vbox app, and anything else I’ve tried. I’m happy to provide relevant logs but will need some kind of direction to extract the correct sections.
I was looking for PLEX official technical support…is this it? Seems a bit hit or miss for a paid product. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance
Is there an official plex help area I’ve missed?
Anyone help with this please, or at least advise if this is a common fault with Plex software?
@glare94_gmail_com Have you not looked at the following thread as it’s a known issue and hopefully will be fixed soon as major changes to FreeView has taken place over the last month and more will be implemented over the summer.

Don’t know if this is the same issue I’m having but I’ll read it to double check. Thanks for taking the time to reply in any case. I don’t see how this can be anything other than a Plex software problem when every channel works using any other player (vlc etc) I’ve tried to date.
Thanks again.
Just gone through the thread you highlighted, the fault I have is playback not epg related. BBC1 Scotland (SD and HD) appear on the channel list and the epg populates correctly. PLEX cannot play either version of the channel whereas KODI/VLC etc can.

Plex get’s it’s data from Gracenote, therefore if the data from Gracenote is wrong there will be an issue with that channel in Plex. As the moment, Gracenote has not updated it’s db from the recent HD channel change (this is all highlighted in the thread that’s linked).
I don’t really understand your reply but if you’re saying that’s the reason why the channel has never worked in the 2 years I’ve used and paid for Plex then I’ll take your word for it.
If this element of Plex has been broken for so long then a pinned message at the top of the Live TV & DVR section would make sense, but then again so would genuine technical support instead of relying on users like you providing assistance.
Grateful for your help.
@glare94_gmail_com One thing I’ve just noticed is that you’ve stated that you use a Vbox 3442-21, have you tried using a HDHomeRun instead as they seem to work much better especially here in the UK?
Don’t have one, the Vbox works with everything else and is listed as supported in PLEX.
Do the team members on here actually work for Plex?
@glare94_gmail_com

Plex states it’s supported in Europe, but does not list per country and as I’ve stated the HDHomeRun works best in the UK.
Do the team members on here actually work for Plex?
No, it just means they are regulars to the forum who spend time helping out. Myself, I’m a professional media server installer, so I setup media systems professionally.
Okay, bearing in mind it hasn’t worked for two years I’ll give them another couple of months to fix it before probably abandoning Plex. I do appreciate you taking the time.

It’s out of Plex’s control to fix someone else’s product, as I’ve said, the HDHomeRun works in the UK, so it’s your choice to fix your issue or not.
There was an effort to work with Vbox but it seems to have died out. VBOX DVR tuning issue for Sydney Australia
I pay Plex, I don’t give money to any third party so whether it’s someone else’s software is irrelevant to me . It’s up to Plex to ensure compatibility and full functionality of their software for their customers and at the very least provide adequate technical support, which they don’t. My Tuner is listed as compatible for European use so should work without issue. These forums are ad hoc at best and are apparently solely reliant on the good will of other Plex customers like you to resolve issues. This is no substitute for a properly managed support system. You’re obviously a fan of Plex and that’s up to you and if you’re happy with things the way they are then that’s your choice. Thanks again
@glare94_gmail_com What money to a 3rd party? You paid money for the Vbox right? The HDHomeRun is just a tiny little box that connects to your TV aerial and an ethernet cable plugs into your home network. As for your comment regarding European, the UK is not in EU anymore, therefore anything that mentions European should be taken with a pinch of salt in regards to the UK.
Different countries use different digital TV technology, therefore I can’t just goto the US and buy a TV box and then come back to the UK and plug it in and expect it to work.
As I said, your issue is not with Plex, but with what product you have purchased.
I paid money to Vbox and it works with everything else. When I mentioned third parties I meant I don’t pay anything to anyone else only Plex and whatever problems they have with Gracenote or any other company is their problem not mine. If the tuner I use isn’t fully compatible with Plex then it shouldn’t be listed as such. The UK is still in Europe regardless of the EU. No individual countries are listed for any continent in the supported DVR’s section i.e Europe, Australia, Africa, Asia and North America. I don’t know what your point is. I thanked you for trying to help and you are obviously uber defensive about all things Plex so let’s just leave it there.
If the tuner I use isn’t fully compatible with Plex then it shouldn’t be listed as such
That’s my point, it doesn’t list that it’s compatible in the UK, but it is in other countries.
I’ve given you a way to solve your issue, but as you’re reluctant to resolve it, then it just makes it look like you’ve acquired the Vbox cheaply or for free and now upon finding out that you actually need to spend money you don’t like it, I could be wrong, but that’s how you’ve come across.
You are wrong. No countries are specified, only continents! Try reading a reply. Your answer is to buy another product despite the fact that the one I own is listed as compatible. Please go away.

Obviously I got it right when I said you got it cheap, most likely off of ebay or something like that.
Just a quick note to you, Plex does email you if someone posts something that is insulting, but then they quickly edit the post lol.
