I’m finding that I’ve lost a whole selection of channels via freeview here in the UK.
I’m going to focus on one channel only but I’ve lost about 23 I’m found so far.
When I scan in the UK (mendip) which is my local transmitter, I dont get BBC 1 detected at all. (see error 1)
When I scan in the UK (Full Freq) I do get BBC 1. But I get two ’ value for it’ (see error 2)
But when I select either as my source for BBC 1 EPG, I’m not getting any signal (see error3) and Plex Client is reporting that Plex Server says No Signal, which is strange since the Channel Scanner is reporting Full Strength Signal in the WebUI.
I;m running an internal Hauppage Quad HD T2 Tuner with 2 x 2 tuners dedicated to Plex. (sys Screen)
I’ve also just tested the Tuner via WinTV and executed a fresh Scan whcih has detected BBC 1 perfectly and allows me to watch it correctly.
The Scanned Channels are in Win TV screenshot.
Therefore It looks to me like Plex is not detecting the channels correctly, What Can I do to get it correctly detecting channels again.
Hi @systemshark,
Have you successfully fixed the issue since wrtiting this thread? If not, I’ve read that @sa2000 has mentioned in another post that it’s a Gracenote issue, and Plex know about it, but I’m unsure how long it’s going to be till they finally do something about it!!
I’ve got a 3 year old son, that likes to watch Tiny Pop and Pop Max when I have him on weekends, but this weekend, guess what’s missing… ARGH!!
I run PMS on Ubuntu 18.04LTS with 3 WinTV DuoHD tuners connected and I get missing EPG data using the Freeview data.
Hope we can get this issue solved quickly, as the Live TV/PVR is looking more like a washout since it’s been released and that having to pay for something that isn’t actually working properly is just CRAZY!!
After much effort, I have workaround on tuners for UK. Basically I have removed all Tuners and Set them up one tuner at the time. Rather than using gracenote, I’m now using OTA EPG data source. This has helped massively as the channels are less a problematic.
I’v managed to get all 4 tuners working but the different channels are detected on different tuner, but all tuners are on the same tuner card and same single input source which is strange when tuner 0 & 1 finds 98 chanels and Tuner 2&3 detects 120 channels even when scanned minutes apart. wchih is strange. Basically I’ve managed to get the channels I want across the 4 tuners, but often I have 2 tuners not the full 4.
Hi @systemshark,
How are you grabbing the OTA EPG? I’ve been looking for instructions on how to do this on Ubuntu Linux, but I’ve come up blank.
I know there’s a way to do it with xmltv, which I’ve installed ready on the server.
If anyone can help I’d be grateful…
Hi, At some point, OTA appeared in the UK build of PMS. BAsically I’m using Native Plex only. The configuration was after I scanned for channels, I could pick a source, and OTA was last on the list.
Oh And the Scanning Issue, It’s still not resolved, if you see the screen shot above, Two scans wihtin minutes results on 143 and 167 using the same source. Surely it should be 167 for both Tuners.
That scanning issue isn’t the Tuners, it’s a Grapefruit issue, that Local Over The Air thing is from Grape… sorry Gracenote, @sa2000 says they know about it? but because of all these other money spinning ideas etc, Dev’s just haven’t been paid enough to fix the issues… Sorry I’m just getting tired of it all now, till the actually allow Live TV grab the EPG from the proper OTA, we’re going to keep seeing this issue of missing channels etc.
Even on Local OTA here from the Wenvoe Transmitter, I’m missing the Pop Max, Tiny Pop, Ideal World, lots of Radio stations.
Why advertise Plex Live TV/DVR as a working product when Gracenote Onconnect EPG service is so terrible? I’m currently attempting to get XMLTV to grab EPG Data from another source on Ubuntu, but having issues with running the GUI version of it to grab EPG data, rather than using the Command Line.
Latest update on the Server is working as the update rolled out today, but after a quick test, still missing channels, but they’ve fixed a few Transcode issues… That’s something… just not what we need!!
Update as of 0935 UK Time, Channel Mapping issues on the Latest server version… or is this Gracenote vs Plex again? C’mon @sa2000 can you help?
The reason I think the scanner is missing channels, is I’ve looked into the database of Plex pre and post scanning and the channels registered within the table is different for two scans. I’m not even looking at the mapping from Channels to EPG.
So, if it’s a Database issue, then this shouldn’t happen! In my opinion, Plex should, once you press scan channels should wipe the current database and allow the fresh to. But I know my issue along with the missing channels is the shoddy Gracenote Onconnect system.
These issues have been there since the Live TV became available, and you would think they’d have done more beta testing of this before releasing it to the public?
If there is going to be a option for OTA DTT EPG, then I’d be most happy to beta test this before they release it into the wild and risk Plex getting slagged off anymore.
I’m not at home at the moment, but I’m a little worried that you can’t see the option for OTA. If I recall, I scanned the channels and Selected EPG Source, whcih was Gracenote types or XML but The bottom source was Local Over The Air Boardcast. Doi you get this option?
That I see in the EPG listings, but that’s supplied by Gracenote from what I believe also, I’m on the understanding that there’s going to be another option to allow actual OTA DTT EPG data to be grabbed over the air like my TV does when I use it.
If there is a problem with channel mapping please provide me with screenshots for setup of a DVR, outline of what is wrong plus the server logs and i will investigate. Please start with a fresh launch of the server so we get new logs created
@sa2000 Channel Mapping is back, but still missing channel 207, 208, 22, 8, 77, 714, 716, 721 and 730. I’ve put all these on the request so many times via the page and getting nowhere fast.
Channels 207 & 208 are the latest ones to disappear from the EPG and they are the ones my kids watch in their rooms or on the Tablets, The rest of the channels much to my annoyance have been missing on all the guides since I began to use Plex Live TV before I became a Plex Lifetime member, I was under a different username to.
So, can anyone like @sa2000, @ChuckPa, @jesusmc or any other Plex Dev, Guru or someone in the know point us all in the direction of where we could be going wrong? This isn’t on having a system that we know the channels are there but the EPG is so POOR, why do we pay for using the TV when it’s not working correctly.
I’m receiving channels from Wenvoe Transmitter in CF39. Will Freeview UK on Plex get a working EPG guide soon rather than us missing channels? We need answers…
Are these channels that were available in Plex before but have now disappeared ?
Did you do a rescan of channels ?
Has the source of guide data option changed from what was selected originally when the DVR was setup ?
Would need logs with debug logging covering time when channels are scanned / being mapped. Also screenshot to show what guide source is in use - shows on the DVR settings page
And what post code was entered
I’ve not seen it happen on any other client, onus the player needs fixing to, as the latest update still didn’t work on Android 6!
I’m trying my hardest to get the EPG working, but it seems @sa2000 fails to grasp that it’s a Gracenote issue and nothing else.
My server on live TV hasn’t changed from the Freeview data that I had set it to, and I’ve tried rescanning, still issues of metadata not being picked up from the Gracenote Freeview EPG.
Please, before it’s too late Obey Wan, get Luke and the rest of the Jedi masters to sort out this issue before we all start going to the dark side…
Oh @sa2000 I used CF39, even trying a postcode closer to the transmitter I still cannot get the EPG to show these channels that ARE being transmitted from the Wenvoe Transmitter, and from the Tonyrefail Transmitter, just that Gracenote fails big time on this with Postcodes in South Wales…
I’ve added screenshots and my logs after a scan… how will the logs show that the Grapefruit EPG isn’t picking up stuff?? I used CF39 as it’s my home postcode too…
@sa2000 Here are the Transmitters and the footprints and yes I get both, and on both of them you can see the channels I’ve listed that are missing from the EPG, but as I mentioned no matter how I try and re scan or do a new DVR with a new EPG data set there are always missing channels in the channel data, if my memory serves me correct on the YouView one we’re missing Now 90’s, Smithsonian and the Tiny Pop channels, the Local EPG data which I know isn’t grabbing it over the air as it leads us to believe, is missing channels to.
Tonyrefail has 61 channels transmitted from it, and Wenvoe has the whole Freeview lineup, so what is the issue about the EPG not having all the channels listed?
Is it possible to copy the config from one tuner to another, I’ve got a Quad Hanggaue PCI Freetuner in my server whcih is 4 tuners, and one thing whcih drives me nuts, is the scanning again and set up the channel matching. Why can it be copied from one tuner to another…
It’s something whcih was in GBPVR ages ago…
