Before I change to a NAS... PlexPass required for shared users / hardware acceleration?

Forgive me… I’ve been a PlexPass subscriber for so long, I don’t really pay attention to what it is or isn’t needed for.

I’m considering retiring my old server and getting a higher-end synology NAS. Doing my research, I see that hardware acceleration is required for 4k transcoding on most of them, and hardware acceleration is a Plex Pass feature.

What I’m wondering is do my invited non-plex-pass remote users need plex pass to watch transcoded 4k from my library, or do only I need the Plex Pass for it to work?
