As a user I would like to be able to have a pre saved filter for Aspect Ratio in my Library or the option to create an Advanced Filter that does the same thing. It would be nice to be able to add a small icon to the Movie Poster if so desired to show aspect ratio. Rating… quality. ect. and to remove them when not wanted.
Could you share an example of your use case?
I have a hard time to imagine it’s movie night to wonder if I want to watch a 4:3, 16:9 or 21:9 movie… maybe I’m missing something that’s obvious to you
As for adding information to movie posters…
let’s stick with the aspect ratio as that’s linked to your actual suggestion. There’s already a number of suggestions asking to include quality, language, content rating, user/audience/critic rating or original country… on top of the poster
e.g. Display Video Quality on Cover Art, Language Banners for Cover Art
For me, this would be helpful for library management - I’ve used an automated ripper (ARM) to rip a large collection of discs, and some of them are cropped full screen versions. I was trying to build a smart filter based on aspect ratio, to have a list movies I to watch for cheap replacements and re-rip.
I may not care to watch one of these enough to pay for one of these outright, but would be nice to have a watch list for places like public library book sales and what not.
There’s probably other tools to do this, but I’d use it if it were built into Plex.
