I was just watching a film when my Plex server dropped all libraries on every single device, The NAS it is running off (Synology DS418play) is up fine and the server had the status “Running”. I’ve attempted an uninstall and reinstall through Synology’s package manager multiple times but don’t get prompted to add libraries, I tried all of the downloads through Plex’s website with the “Manual Upload” feature but none of them worked from my DSM5 system.
I’ve tried literally everything I can think of and there seems to be no explanation for this happening, What do I do?
Jumbo frames are not enabled, the MTU is 1500 bytes - see attached.
I moved the media out of the “videos” folder a while ago, but the server hasn’t caught up. I think the real problem is that the server is trying to find media in the “videos” folder, but because it has been moved it cannot find it (hence the error “No such file or directory”). So the question is, how do we tell the server to look in the new location and ignore the old one?
The solution to get the Plex Server to work on the Synology NAS (with DSM 6.2) was to stop the server, delete the package and then go into the Unix shell and remove the plex folder. It seems that the DSM package manager doesn’t do this, so the Plex server configuration was picking up caches from earlier incarnations. Once I removed the plex folder in the shell, and then reinstalled the Plex Server package from the DSM, everything worked.
