Best format for video files start stop ussues

I use Power Director to create home videos some of my videos when playing on the plex server will stop and wait for things to catch up then play some more and sometimes just abort

I think maybe the server is converting the videos and does not have sufficient power to do so. What format should I use so the video does not need to be converted. some MP4 files have the problem

During playback, check the status via Plex Web → Status → Dashboard. It will show if the video is direct playing or transcoding.

The most compatible format across all Plex clients is:

  • MP4 container
  • H.264/AVC video, High@L4.0 or lower
  • AAC 2.0 audio, 320kbps or lower, as primary audio stream

Please post the content of the Plex XML info of one of your home videos

Under status it says
Transcoding HEVC to H.264

Transcoding ACC to ACC

Case closed.
If you are playing one of these movies in a client which cannot play the HEVC video codec, Plex server must transcode. And since HEVC videos require a shedload of processing power to get transcoded, your server is not able to do the is fast enough. The results is frequent “buffering”.

You should better use the H.264/AVC codec for your home videos.

What is the best way to delete the old file and replace it. Do I just delete from the folder or do I need to delete it from the library first and if so how do I do that

Thanks

Just replace the file,
then trigger a new Analysis.
