Best mencoder output for RasPlex

Ok,

So let me get where I am now....

my Pi is on backorder till next month, but I would like to get this perfect before it comes...

Right now I use handbrake to convert my wtv files to mp4 files. It works, but It does not remove my commercials.

I have started to play with ComSkip. ... Well with comskip, I need to use the edl file to remove the commercials.

To do that I use mencoder... (anyone have anything better that can be CLI driven please tell me)

The problem with mencoder is SO many options.. I have tried for HOURS trying to get a x264 output to run in plex/web .. NO GO.. nothing  works..

I just fliped to xvid and BOOOOOOOM magic. It runs. However... will this break the Pi when i get it? can the Pi handle a 720p xvid or 1080p xvid? ...

Or someone tell me how to get my x264 to work. I am basically fighting codecs right now. ... please help.

I would suggest using h264 encoded videos and mp4 as container. Handbrake is a good choice. Just use profiles and you don't have to tune the settings yourself.

To be able to view these videos via your browser and plex-web you should use a WebKit based browser (Chrome, Safari) or IE. Firefox will still not work but will finally add support for those video later this year.

The problem is handbrake will not accept the edl ... It makes me live with commercials. I hate commercials...

i need mencoder to work. How am I the ONLY person recording tv and want to remove commercials.

The cool thing on the desktop app is the 30second skip. That works wonders for commercials. I want to automate the removal process though. I will not let this beat me.. It is becoming personal.
