Hey there, we are a Production Co. in NY and we use Plex music playlists for our ambient music. We’ve built a new lobby with a series TV monitors that will show our coming attractions, etc. videos are about 2-5 minutes each and there are about 20 of them. The loop will change each month or so.
Best ideas on how to play these? The videos will be on our Plex server as well as Vimeo and Youtube. We can also put them on a SSD if playing them locally from a player is the best option.
We love some input!
Look at digital signage solutions as well. There are many free / low cost products and services.
Search for “digital signage,” “free digital signage,” etc with your favorite search engine.
I referred to the Terms of Service of Plex and linked a different thread that discussed the use of Plex in a commercial context.
The standard terms don’t allow using Plex in a commercial context but in that thread you’ll find a reference to contact Plex via the “contact” link for some exception. The person in that other thread had a different use case (that’s where the “400 devices” come from). Sorry for the confusion.
We don’t plan on using plex for this playback-- Wasn’t even sure that was an option for our needs. I was only asking for ideas. We settled on a standalone player by BrightSign.
