I’m trying to merge my music collections to display and play together in one place. I have song purchased from Amazon Music, iTunes, Google Music, and Xbox music. (The reason for getting them from all over is freebie/cheapie promotions that I grab when I can).
In my Plex server, I set up:
Media/Music/Amazon Music/[Artist]/[Album]/[Track]
Media/Music/iTunes/[Artist]/[Album]/[Track]
Media/Music/Google Music/[Artist]/[Album]/[Track]
Media/Music/Xbox Music/[Artist]/[Album]/[Track]
Media/Music/CDRips/[Artist]/[Album]/[Track]
I pointed Plex at Media/Music/ and it went through and scanned this structure fine and all the music seems to show up ok in Plex. The reason I kept everything separate was so I could figure out where everything came from and possibly help keep track of what needs to be downloaded when I get new stuff from a cloud music store.
Am I going down the wrong track on this? How does everybody else organize all their tracks in this situation? Do you just merge everything together and not care about the sources?
The problem I just ran into is that I have two copies of the same album, from two different stores. Plex merges the two copies together into one listing, but the album has duplicate listings for each track. Is there a way to keep the two copies in my media directory but suppress one from listing in plex?
