What build number is the new beta? I’m looking in Google Play but don’t see the new one yet
8169 - Release announcements
Looks like just some fixes for crashes
Not sure if already reported but I have a couple of issues with Android Auto using Ford Sync and a Galaxy S8+.
- If I listen to a song and hit the back button to start over the progress bar doesn’t reflect that. It just keeps on advancing and once the progress bar reaches the end it just sits there until the song is finished too.
- Sometimes when I play a song it doesnt show up on the center screen and the screen in my dash shows audio stream detected. Once the next song starts playing it’s back to normal.
- Android Auto doesn’t remember were I left off. When I get back into my car I have to manually select the playlist and song again even though the Plex notification on my phone is still there showing the right song.
Lyrics are still not working for me on my phone. They do work on Plex web though.
Also experienced the issue with multiple notifications.
Still a plethora of casting issues on latest @SamFromPlex

I’m not a part of the beta but I want to thank you guys SOOOO MUCHHH for the 7.8 update for the music player!!! All my playback issues are gone (certain tracks would lock up the player), and the crossfade is a very very welcome addition. As I pretty much only use Plex for my music library I can’t express how excited I am!! Thank you guys sooo much for this update!!!
There’s a very annoying issue, where if you skip more than a few songs, and then finally land on one and let it play, where the player will actually go back a few songs on it’s own. EG, I skipped 7 songs let’s say, and then a song came on I like, so I stopped skipping and let this song play. Well about 20 seconds into the song, Plex goes back 3 songs, which I must then skip ahead to get back to my song.
While reproducing the above issue (which you can actually still see in the video), I also managed to get 2 songs playing at once!!! Even pausing and resuming, pauses both songs, then plays both songs simultaneously again. After this occurred, not even destroying the queue would fix the issue. I had to force stop the app to only have 1 song playing.

I can confirm the 2 songs playing at once issue. It was weird as even when I paused and unpaused, both songs started playing. Only way I got it to stop was to kill the app.
The next versions (7.9) beta will include a few fixes to the audio player engine which should prevent the multiple audio tracks issue along with a few others (fast skipping issues).
I’m filing reporting the rest of the bugs and they will be fixed as we get to them.
@Daimyo those video links expired, if these are different chromecast issues than the ones you’ve reported before can you please provide steps to reproduce (if they exist) and logs so we can investigate?
The track should be playing while buffering, and you should be able to skip while buffering, if that isn’t the case there is a bug and I would love some logs.
It seems to me that if you skip a few songs ahead in the queue quickly, sometimes the song that you let play will start to play and then begin to buffer.
I don’t understand exactly. If you skip ahead to un-buffered tracks then it will need to buffer…
This one is weird, and I can’t reliably recreate this, but sometimes if I skip ahead to the next song, two songs will play at once, overlapping eachother.
Hoping this will be fixed in 7.9, if not please advise
Yeah, I think my server just needed a restart, I haven’t experienced this for a few days now.
As for the logs, I will try to get them later on today and possibly a video showing what I mean.
Hey, I have recorded the issue and uploaded to youtube
Music is playing by the way I just disabled it so I don’t get hit with a copyright.
Sorry I don’t have logs yet, but as you can see, it won’t let me seek through the track until it loads completely. Tested with a flac file
Ah, I can reproduce that, let me see if we fixed it already
So can you please send me logs of that network switch happening with timestamps?
Hmm, all 3 links are working for me.
Also, will the fix for radio not progressing on Chromecast be in 7.9?
Artist Radio is broken with the last update! Now is not populating songs like it was doing before today’s update.
No, we still haven’t been able to reproduce it ![]()
How can I go back to the update from yesterday? Thanks
