I mean what does the exact filenames look like?
e.g.
/tv/Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000)/Season 01/Curb Your Enthusiasm - S01E01.mkv
/Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000)/Season 01/Curb Your Enthusiasm - S01E01 - The Pants Tent
And is it showing up in the library but just not getting metadata or is it completely missing?
If it’s in the library, can you refresh the show and then grab logs (Settings → Troubleshooting → Download Logs) and post them here.
only the metadata is missing. the show is completely in the library
here the logs

Looks like when your server started earlier today it couldn’t reach the plex.tv servers:
Apr 21, 2021 14:40:46.364 [0x7f003b159700] WARN - HTTP error requesting GET https://plex.tv/media/providers?X-Plex-Token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (6, Couldn't resolve host name) (Could not resolve host: plex.tv)
Try and restart PMS and ensure the server can reach the plex.tv domain correctly.
Also it looks like you season names are in German, which we specifically call out as not supporting:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/
- Be sure to use the English word “Season” when creating season directories, even if your content is in another language.
In this case it’s not the problem but it may cause issues down the line.
thank you it works. the restart was the solution
another question. how to get the tmdb number e.g. Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000) {tmdb-4546}
If you search on https://www.themoviedb.org/ for a show, and go to its page you will see this id in the url:
e.g. https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/4546-curb-your-enthusiasm
I really like this I see the Marvel shows now have the prefix of
Marvel's
which they did not have before. Very nice from a sorting standpoint as they are now all bunched together.
I have noticed that Superman and Lois has not yet changed to its correct name Superman & Lois
. Is that just a time lag and will sort itself out in a day or two ?
I am currently not using the new Plex TV agent yet (I’m following this thread tho to see how the new Plex TV agent is developing), but in my TV shows library (using the old agent) I have made all the season names in Norwegian. And the English name for “Specials” (yea, thats a weird choice, I know ). This has worked suprisingly well for me tho on the older TV agent (haven’t encountered any thing weird), but in general as you were saying to @schawolf is not the best practice, especially for the new Plex TV agent. Going with a English naming structure for both the “Season” and “Special” folders is the way to go in other words.
I just have two questions for season naming tho:
In general my plan is to just delete the TV Show library on my Plex server when the new Plex TV agent is out of beta, and make a new TV Show library from scratch with the new agent (just for good measure). Should I rather just wait with renaming all the “Season” folders until I do this bigger library change?
That I personally wouldn’t like for myself. I’d consider that confusing since users looking for Daredevil will assume it isn’t there because they didn’t scroll to “Marvel’s Daredevil” even if the latter is the “right” name.
There’s still conflict over that in regards to Raiders of the Lost Ark vs Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark though so… no winners.
No source is going to appeal to everyone though (I saw the “Superman and Lois” vs “Superman & Lois” kerfuffle previously) and at least TVDB has some avenue for update\change if necessary even if they do tend to be more pedantic about things.
I would think most users would use the search function to look for a show they don’t see right of. But if it is not your personal preference then you could edit the title of the show to your liking.
True, and that’s what I’d do at a keyboard input option (Desktop, iPad, etc) but on set-top-boxes using search doesn’t feel as convenient as clicking up/down a list.
Yup. Exactly. I just rename stuff that doesn’t fit what I’d prefer so it’s no biggie - I’m not going to fight an entire system just for my personal preferences. Nobody says “Hey, did you catch last night’s episode of Marvel’s Agents of Shield last night?” but at the same time it’s pulling from a TV database site specifically designed around accuracy vs colloquialisms so it makes sense. Glad we have flexibility.
From:
I have a new Test Library using the new agent for a few hundred episodes in a small gathering of shows.
EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM have no history - all unwatched - All Virgin Media.
I’m not doing that with 500+ Shows/12,600+ Episodes to get things migrated to the new agent. Period.
IF at some point I’m able to migrate the entire library without any of the pain and suffering - that’s what I want to do.
Are you asking a question?
When changing agents and then refreshing the items all the watch history is migrated.
I’d suggest nuking the test library first, then upgrading the main library if you wish to do so. Nothing is forcing to upgrade now however if you don’t want to.
I have a test library because I’m not willing to migrate an entire Plexiverse of TV Shows to an agent that clearly you guys are still working on. I have a test library, so I can see things that are NOT ready for prime time. <—the issues being actively discussed in this very thread.
I assume, when the function appears to wisk my old library into the new one - enough will have been done to warrant a switch. I’ll consider it at that time.
I would suggest before turning that control on - you’re happier with the new agent than you are now. When that control appears - that’s what I’m taking as your word that you’re about as happy as you can be.
I’ll wait, thank you.
With the revelation that this scanner is considered by Plex employees as no longer beta and ready for the show … and this thread has gotten pretty large… will there be a more official statement and hand off beyond a new buried support article and a comment in an unassociated thread? Maybe some sort of summary post of known existing issues to be worked out and info\suggestions for moving to the new agent and some of its features?
I’m not trying to be argumentative … just was surprised by some of the discussions. The agent has been pretty reliable for the most part.
No worries.
I’m personally happy with the state of the agent otherwise I wouldn’t have been comfortable making it the default now for new libraries. We’ve closed out all the big issues and only have a few smaller issues that will get ironed out going forward.
