Maybe, will see what the plex team say about it.

I notice that a few shows with unmatched specials seem to refresh (a portion of) metadata each time they scan. I’ll grab logs.

Do you have a significant amount of unmatched media?

Is there a way to filter/find unmatched episodes?

no… of the 2255 shows in this one library i’m talking about only 18 are unmatched and that’s because they aren’t matchable/too obscure… : ) : (

and i tested it again and watched the events go by… and it still did it : ) : ( (matched, fetched and loaded metadata for everything for like the 10th time hahaha : ) : (

i’m thinking since i’m the only one here having this problem… that it has something to with something changing about the way this scanner knows nothing has changed in the folder… because 99% of my stuff is on the cloud on a rclone/plexdrive drive that is not writeable (i’d never let a program like plex or emby be able to delete files!) (the previous scanner never had a problem with this… fyi) : (

You are not the only one, I get refreshes of some (not all) when rescanning.

yea i dont think it’s “all” either… cause the first refresh all metadata took hours… this only takes like 25 minutes… but the 100s of shows it redoes the metadata for are all already matched/filled out… it’s weird : ) : (

@jaquestati I’m also seeing the same symtoms on my rclone mounted drive. Scans everything every time whenever I update any single file.

That’s normal, I added them to themoviedb yesterday so they will be available in a few days

well plex has always ‘scanned everything’ every time i add files and do a manual scan… but it never reloaded tons of the same metadata over and over again, every single time : ) : (

rclone/plexdrive scans don’t normally take much bandwidth, though they always longer than scans of local folders… (maybe 5-10 min)… but metadata fetches/loading takes like ALL my servers bandwidth hahaha… eats 110 megs a sec for as long as it is loading metadata for some reason… brings the internet/server to it’s knees : ) : (

if you have ad-detection enabled, then this will scan every file in order to analyze it.

meaning it will have to read/download the entire file (each and every)

you mean intro detection? i have that off for all libraries, i know that would take too long on the cloud : )

just trying unchecking use local assets/prefer local metadata… now… and see if that changes anything with a scan…

edit- alas no… didn’t help… its redownloading and loading all the metadata again : (

intro or ad detection might cause that (reading every file)

ad-detection may only be visible if you have a tv tuner configured in plex

I am still having alot of shows refresh metadata on a constant basis as well. Alot of daily episode shows and discovery/history shows.

Fast n Loud season 3 is matching S03E05 as “'71 Cool Kingswood / Retro Replicar” which is S04E08

There are of course other instances. Using TVDB for ordering.

yea intro detection is always off, and no you must need a tuner, i don’t see any ad detection option…

We know it’s something important for many people. Please also remember that you can get subtitles using the Search option when playing the item. It’s not automatic but it does make it easy for people to have their own subtitle choice without cluttering the list for others.

Could you tell me what the local metadata is? I don’t know what you’re expecting to see here.

We’ll only use embedded metadata from MP4s if you have the “Prefer embedded tags” option enabled.

Are you sure there aren’t local posters for these (or embedded posters in the files, if they’re mp4)?

Please send me some logs. If you see issues grab logs immediately after that so it doesn’t get overwritten.

There is a check at the end of every scan that looks for unmatched items and will try to match them again. Have you got a lot of stuff in there that isn’t matching?

Logs please.

Thanks, I did not check the changes to see when they where added.

Community collaboration at it best

There is one show that refuses to be matched even with this new scanner: Scorcese’s Il mio viaggio in Italia (imdb) (tmdb) (tvdb). No matter what I do in the searchbox, the show is never found. My files are in the following directory: Il mio viaggio in Italia (1999) {imdb-tt0173772}\Season 01\.
I tried renaming it to english and every possible searchterm (including the new imdb--style searches.

Is there anything else I can try?
