[BETA] New Plex TV Series Scanner

@drzoidberg33 Do you have an answer to my question?

That’s a movie. It will not match inside a TV library.

Ah, sorry missed that. I answered that one here:

Really? But it’s a documentary in four parts (on my dvd). How does the scanner determine if something is a movie or a tv-show? His other documentary is picked up by the TV-show scanner.

It’s not the scanner that determines it, it’s the source of the metadata. All three links you posted here are movie links:

How can I see that this is identified as a movie on those sites? What is the difference between:
A personal journey → identified as a TV-show
and
My voyage to Italy → Identified as a Movie

I would like to have them both in the same Library…

A personal journey also exists as a TV show: A Personal Journey with Martin Scorsese Through American Movies (TV Series 1995-1995) — The Movie Database (TMDb)

Although I suspect it’s possible that it would get removed at some point (depending on the rules at TMDB) and then it would no longer match.

Ah, now I see. There is movie/tv in the URL. That’s how they are identified. I’ll move them both to my Movie Library. I wonder how the four parts of the Italy documentary will show up…

Thanks for the help.

Other than my season artwork reverting to the default and a few cases where I had to change the name of a season twice to get it to stick, it’s been great for me so far.

I really love the ability to name seasons and add local extra files! I’d still really love for the ability to insert a movie into the episode order though (Twin Peaks, Steven Universe, and basically all anime would benefit from this).

The tvdb has a lot of feature films from tv shows listed under specials. So if you name it right and use tvdb episode ordering, it should work.
For example Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me would be S00E02.

I can’t del this

Plex Media Server Logs_2021-03-05_20-15-40.zip (3.5 MB)

I do have prefer embedded tags enabled but its overwriting titles

It should look like this

The scanner doesn’t seem to always respect the Weeks to consider for On Deck and Continue Watching option in Settings – > Library for the server.

I have that set to 16 weeks. I have been manually refreshing metadata on selected series, until I feel confident enough to go ahead and refresh all to fully migrate to the new scanner.

Maybe the setting is no longer used from the server setting, but I couldn’t find an equivalent in the advanced settings for the scanner/agent. I have shows that I lost interest in years ago showing up in “On Deck” now, and it’s getting kind of cluttered …

Just to be clear then, you have MP4 files that have embedded title tags and those aren’t working?

Could you refresh that show and send me your logs?

no the weird thing is that like of the 2800 plus shows in this particular library, only 11 are unmatched (and thats because they arent matchable/too obscure/aren’t really tv shows) it just keeps downloading/loading metadata for hundreds of shows that are already matched nicely.)

i’ll do another scan then send a log

Found another odd one. Steven Universe Future seems to have the title for Steven Universe, also the year is wrong.

Checking the show summary and the episodes etc… it is matching other metadata off Steven Universe Future correctly and is only the title that is coming up wrong. Guessing some back-end mismatch.

Yep, that’s odd. I don’t know why it’s not using Steven Universe Future there, will follow up.

My BETA library uses the TMDB, and now i selected a few days ago for one tv show the episode order as TVDB (Aired) because that one has the right seasons. Will it work like that, so it should take the seasons numbers and episode number from TVDB for that tv show.
What i get now is that it still shows [Unkown Season], and i have the naming for that show like:Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden - 2021-03-01 - Aflevering 6360

I don’t think so. These are MKV files, and neither MKVToolNix or MediaInfo show poster element in the file:
1 2

Thanks, could you refresh one of the episodes from that season and send me the server logs? (Settings → Troubleshooting → Download Logs)?
