1, I personally have bunch of movies with posters that judging by the poster i cant tell what it is.
2, movies are added to the library by me and me only. My GF and kid have no idea what the movie is about.
3, home movies that DO have posters and description ( videos of our son from events etc ) have the same poster from the same event. Without description its hard to tell them apart.
4, same as above but recorded tv. If movie is recorded by eyetv or mce7 and coversion software can match it with thetvdb or imdb, it will attach poster to converted video. By default, i add record date to either tagline or description to be able to tell when the movie was recorded.
4, XBMC remotes also show full screen posters but only if you touch top half of the screen (which makes description overlay fade out). Apple does this as well with thier “now playing” screen in Music app on iPhone and iPod touch. (ie. when you ‘touch’ the poster controls fade out and album art is in full screen.
i believe my usage for description is not that unordinary, let me know what you think…
kind regards
I can see it in the App Store now.
That are all very good arguments. In my library "personal videos" and stuff that I record from TV does not have a cover and so the description is shown together with a screenshot. I guest I can't generalize that. I will add a way to show it but I'm not sure right now how it should be triggered. Touching the poster toggles already shows the playback-controls (if that video is currently playing). Perhaps on the flip-side? Or with some touch gesture?
YES! Plex Touch in in the AppStore starting today... Just click [here](http://bit.ly/Qb5kd0) to open in the iTunes or search for "plextouch" in the AppStore.
Hi guys, I’m impressed that Plex Touch is selling without making any marketing at all. I guess it must be you guys here from the plex forum. Thank you very much. On Sunday I uploaded the first update which includes Retina-4" support and adds summary/description for movies (thanks to wally007). The update is, of course, still in review by apple and if it takes as long as the initial review it’ll take 2 weeks to be shipped…;(
I’ve just bought the app even though I’m waiting for iPhone 5 to arrive in my part of the word and it does not work with iPhone 3G ( I have 2 of them ) (I’ve been playing with the app on iPad )
Any chance to give aging phones a purpose ?
( iPhone 3G is able to run only iOS 4.3 )
Hi,
did you iPhone 5 arrive? Sorry, there is no (reasonable) chance do make a version for pre iOS 5.0 because I use a lot of techniques (ARC, Storyboard, ... ) that are 5.0+.
Normaly, i know my own movies, that's right. But every week on Sunday, me and my friends doing a movie night. And if they choose a movie, often they don't know what it is about. This is just one scenario ;-)
You're right. I'm convinced that the description is needed for movies, too. I already published an update that shows it under the movie cover. The beautiful cover is still full-screen but if you scroll down you get the text.
No new iPhone for me, Yet but I’m still happy with the app when I use it on iPad. Very happy in fact ![]()
The movie description implementation was ingenious. I wouldn’t have thought about that. Actually at first I did not think it was there until my 2 year old got ahold of iPad and showed me the way ![]()
I’ve gotten the app for myself and on my girlfriend’s iPad as well. She likes the GUI very much. ( we never liked Remote control on official Plex app )
1, Can you please add myPlex queue to the app?
2, Night theme option ? White background is blindingly bright when browsing the shows in pitch dark room. ( something similar to Lightroom, or official Plex iOS color scheme )
Either way, congrats on your work !
Nice to hear that you like the description. It is absolutely amazing what kids can do with an iOS-device. My daughter is 18 month old and she navigates confidently to the app with her favorite crocodile no matter in what state my iPhone is when she gets it in her hands.... I'll put you feature requests on my list but since I am in another project right now it'll take some time.... And I must confess that I never took a look at MyPlex, yet.
Hopefully we will soon be compatible with iPad
Any update?
