I have been a long time Roku user for a long time, but recently the advancements to the plex interface on android tv have been significant except for one small pain point with skipping forwards and backward while viewing a video.
With the Roku, when you press the left or right button, the playback timeline is shown. If you press the button again, the video is paused, thumbnail previews are shown. You can navigate backward and forwards to your desired time and then press ok to resume the video at that point.
On android tv, the experience is a bit disruptive. Pressing the arrow keys just skips without any review. I can get an experience closer to that of the Roku, but it requires pressing pause before using the arrow keys.
At first, I thought there was an API restriction with android tv that prevented this type of design. Still, after watching some movies on MoviesAnywhere and trying to navigate a video, I quickly noticed that was not the case.
I’ve attached a quick video showing how the playback navigation works with MoviesAnywhere and how I would like the plex’s android tv experience.
