Big problems after Plex update to version 1.5.3 Mac OSX El Capitan

Anyone else having problems with this latest update. Some posters and metadata for deleted movies remain in movies library and some of the new movies I’ve added don’t show up at all. It’s baffling. I’ve deleted my libraries and browsed to them again in settings. I’ve even deleted and reinstalled the Plex app but the problems remains. The other big problem is none of the libraries’ metadata (movies and film) show up when I click on them in the left column. They only show up (with the inaccuracies) when I click on “discover libraries.” I had no problems at all with the previous versions. Why can’t Plex leave well enough alone?

My workaround for the movies not showing in my Plex movie section is to move them to the TV section and relabel them as tv show episodes. IE: I changed the the title for “The Founder” to The Founder S01e01. Ridiculous but at least I can watch it on my TV. I have spent FOUR HOURS thinking that this was my problem but I’m convinced now that it’s Plex’s doing after their latest update. VERY frustrating.

Not sure what’s happening but I would be Re installing or updated to Sierra, it’s free and now on it’s fourth update.I find Sierra snappier and I have absolutely no issues with PMS version 1.5.3 Alternatively try using Etrecheck to see if there are some obvious issues with El Capitan.

http://www.etrecheck.com/

Remote access is non existent for me now! worked flawlessly until the update! Already did all port forwarding static ip etc etc…with no fix…can’t get an answer or fix for the problem so going to start looking for an alternative to plex!

Installed and ran Etrecheck. Neat little app which found a bit of adware and removed it but did not solve my Plex problems. I also tried a workaround of “Adding a new folder” with a different name for my movies to my existing libraries and directed it to the Movies folder but Plex doesn’t see most of the files. Really stumped. This has to be a Plex problem that came about after the update. I’ll try updating to Sierra to see if it solves the problem.

Okay, updated to Sierra and my Plex problems still persist. I get this error message now when I open PMS. There was an unexpected error loading the dashboard

Anyone else having his problem?

When I click on the libraries in the sidebar now, I get this error message: There was an unexpected error loading this library. The only I can access my libraries (incomplete and with movie posters I can’t delete) is through “Discover Libraries.” What is going on?

I’ve identified one change in the update that’s causing problems. When I have a number of shows in a folder In the TV section of my libraries, Plex no longer shows the poster or metadata for the folder. It forces me to go into the folder and individually search for the poster and metadata and then it will appear for that individual episode. The bigger problem is that it’s so inconsistent. When I take some shows out of the folders the individual episodes then show up in the tv section but some that I’ve taken out of their folders do not show up at all. Can Plex or someone could give me an answer.

I have none of these problems with Plex on my Roku because I stuck with Plex Classic after the update a lot of people disliked a few years ago. It’s rock solid and still sees all my files and functions the way it always has.

From what your saying Plex loads ok but your shows don’t.

Have you re installed PMS? Is your Library set to auto update?

Look at your agent settings in Libraries and PMS settings.

I’ve looked at those setting multiple times. I’ve even deleted and reinstalled my libraries all with the same cludgy results. This is a buggy update.

Ok, all I can say is I’m not having any issues myself and now have the same set up as yourself. It must be settings or third party software issues. I will say very new releases not yet available on Disc cause some Meta data issues but i accept that problem and manually enter the data.

Reset all the agent settings per your instructions and still no joy. TV shows only show up by name in TV library. I have to click on each individual episode and go into file to access the show and even then I have to browse to the poster and metadata before they show up.

Also have a movie poster in “movies” library that will not delete. Have searched my whole computer for the associated file/jpg but it’s not there.

Plex also still not adding any new movies to my library. Have to move them to my TV library and retitle them as a TV episodes before I I can watch them on my computer or through the Plex app on my Roku.

I need to roll back to three versions ago of Plex. That was working perfectly.

I’d like to try a clean reinstall of Plex on my Imac. I’ve tried that once already but the reinstall came up with all my old setting and the same problems. Aside from dragging the PMS to the trash what other files do I need to find and delete to get a totally clean install?
