Latest Plex - Version 1.11.3.4803 - uninstalling my libraries?!?

Hi everyone,

I updated to the latest plex yesterday as I hadn’t done it in quite a while, and the system when doing its usually auto update of meta/libraries, its ‘deleting’ all the libraries.

The categories are there, but the ‘Movies’ are disappearing, the physical files remain and I can only view them if I go to the category and tell it to view ‘folder’ instead of ‘movie’

All metadata removed as well.

I’ve attempted to roll back the database files to a previous version and that brings up all the data once again, but some are missing and then again I attempt an library update and again “deleting content” through each category.

When I ask it to analyse and update libraries, it completes and says nothing new to add.

anyone else experiencing this behaviour???

I’ve also tried repairing / checking the database with sqlite tools as well, still the same behaviour. Really wish I didn’t update now.

Plex Media Server Version 1.11.3.4803
Running on Windows 10

Please give some more details… if you can still access them via Plex Web in Folder View, that means the movies should still be there.
I didn’t notice any reports like yours yet… hence not sure if this is a common thing. From what version did you update (as you stated you didn’t update PMS for quite some time)?

Is there a difference in behavior when you access your libraries via the version of Plex web installed on your server (https://your-pms-ip-address:32300/web) or via the online version (https://app.plex.tv/desktop)?

edit: slightly curved down my enthusiasm about that the movies “MUST” still be there

Every other client that tries to access it just see’s empty categories now.

Unfortunately I didnt record (didnt think too unfortunately) the previous version, I might be 6months behind in updates.
All clients just report ‘No items to display’

Only on the media server itself can I change the view from ‘movies’ to ‘folders’ and see the items there.

Should have also mentioend, that the storage of media is on a Synology NAS drive that is mounted with a ‘map network drive’ to the windows 10 box z:\

all paths are active/correct and the system is able to be physically browsed and files viewed.

I found another thread talking about difficulties with synology NAS and thought it might be related.

I’vej ust modified some settings in the synology

Max SMB protocol SMB3
Min SMB protocol SMB2

That is under its file sharing / advanced SMB settings and now when I rescan the libraries, its reloading the content! This is great.

However what I will try is rolling back to one of the database backups I had and try and update again and see if it retains the information or wipes it. This looks positive though.

Can’t explain why this would of affected items, unless Windows 10 executed and automatic update which changed behaviour with SMB1 perhaps that I’m not aware of.

So the above seems to have resolved not losing the libraries, all metadata seems to have been lost and requiring a refresh but I can live with that.

Make sure to clear this checkbox:
Settings - Server - Library - ‘Empty trash automatically after every scan’

You need to do that if you use external and networked media storage.
