Black screen but audio playing

Hi! I have a Philips PFH6510/88 Android TV, and I’ve installed the Plex app from Google play store, and I have an issue where some of my media starts playing back but only with audio. If I go to whatever chapter, the first frame will show freezed, audio countinues. I did not find any clue on formats and/or bitrates and/or resolutions. 1080p/720p/SD, some plays correctly, some not.

you can find out the information on the formats that are not playing correctly by looking at the item in your Plex Media Server and looking at the media info. If you can tell details of the files you are trying to play we can see of we can figure out why it cannot play them. usually when there is a black screen that means that the device you are playing back on cannot play that particular codec and it will require disabling Direct Play in the in app settings so that the video stream is transcoded.

There is a black screen playback issue with VC-1 titles on the Shield TV when direct play is forced. Take a look at your direct play settings and also look at the video codec on the files that have the black screen problem.

Black screen stays present with or without Direct Play, it really doesn’t matter. But now I’ve tried to check media info differences between what plays and what not. Intereting part is that with another media server my TV plays all of my media flawlessly without transcoding.
The medias I’ve checked are mostly H264 Level 4.1 .mkv, but there are some .avi that does not play.

Bumping, got the exact same issue and Direct Play doesn’t change anything. I’ve a Philips Android tv as well.

@datiKaa @geert2804 can you provide the full media xml so we can have a look. can you turn on network logging also when trying to reproduce.
