Samsung Issue - Black Screen playback
Only on newer items saved. All older ones play.
Get a black screen and nothing elkse on newer conytent for trhe last month.
Please with all settings - Nothing. Deleted and reinstalled on both the TV and the PC.
TV is 2020 Samsung.
Have my recent logs downloaded… not sure where to send/ who can or will help.

I have what appears to be the same or at least a very similar issue. Just recently - within the last month or so - my QN55Q65FN Samsung Smart TV Plex app has started simply showing a black screen with no sound on some content that played fine previously. There had been no server update, but I updated the server to the latest anyway in hopes of solving the problem - no success.
If I access the same content via Plex web on my laptop, it works just fine. It also works via my Firestick. So this definitely appears to be something related to the Samsung Plex App (5.32.1) or the Samsung TV itself.
When I look at the Plex server dashboard, it thinks it’s merrily streaming the movie to the Samsung TV.
Note, this problem doesn’t occur for all media content - I have plenty of files that continue to stream fine. I haven’t been able to isolate a common denominator for the files that are failing yet, but I’ll keep digging.
I’m happy to share logs or other data as appropriate if there’s someone who can help me make sense of the info. I work in software engineering, and I’m a competent troubleshooter. Please reach out if you can assist.
Ok So absolutely no one helped me with tyhis not evenm a single response but yours. It was terrible I spent a month working this out for myself.
I noticed that all the files that werenr playing seemed to be AVI files.
I had already changed the set up op on my desktop/ media server to UNTICK
Direct Play and Direct Stream.
However what I didnt realise was that these same settings now appear on the Samsung TV app.
If you go into the plex settings on the app and UNTICK both of thgese settings as well as on the device you are streaming them from… This should fix your problem… It fixed mine!
You can also test it because each file on the app, can also have their settings changed for direct play and direct stream.
Well I have a Samsung TV and I’ve been having this problem for months now. I’ve basically stopped using Plex because it’s so frustrating. Nothing shows up after I press play and no audio. I tried a lot of different solutions including the one above. Disabling Direct Play and Direct Stream in both the server application and in the tv application. Now I see a few seconds of a spinning wheel, followed by the black screen and no audio.
The app on my tv also seems to crash if I leave it like this long enough. I always felt like it was a bad release and I’d just wait for an update. But it’s been months now maybe even half a year.
