Blank screen on play on Samsung tv

Just in the last week I’m finding that a large proportion of recordings refuse to play. In fact I end of with a black screen on my TV. I can skip through the file in plex but it doesn’t play at all leaving me with a black screen. I have an older Samsung TV running plex 1.01900 and it has been working great. Sometimes I have to run the mkv fix but nothing like this and I can’t figure out what the pattern is. The same file plays OK on my tablet. In cases a different source works OK so to me suggests something has chanded in encoding formats.

It’s not all new files just most of them and I haven’t performed any recent upgrades

I think that the problem relates to files with HDTV in the name. Could that be the reason?

Look out for webtools plugin and check the logs, most likely what’s happening is reflected there
