So I have added a Blu Ray player to my plex box, my wife still wants to watch her discs and I did not feel like arguing that I could RIP them. Does plex handle blu ray playback or an addon that does or do I need to use something like PowerDVD?
I do not think Plex has any support for Disk playback Blu ray or otherwise. If you want to play it in Plex then you must rip it.
Personally if I were to wish to play Blu rays and want to not rip them I would get a stand alone Blu ray player. I would not even try to play them on a computer using PowerDVD or anything else.
I would do this and I have these my wife wants it all in one because she is lazy lol, I will try it and see how it goes. Thanks
Playing ripped media is for the “lazy”. Much less work that finding and feeding discs.
I still do most of my viewing from physical media, however, as I’m not interested in degraded video quality when I can avoid it.
